It's safe to say that we are STILL trying to find our groove. I know it's only been 3 weeks, but I had high hopes! We are, in some ways, finding our nitch, but others still lack things.
This week was an off week since we didn't do school Monday. We accomplished what we needed to on Tuesday, but it felt like we were dragging. Wednesday was just an all around bad day, we ended up putting the books to the side about halfway through the lessons. We made up for it today and caught back up leaving tomorrow to be a fun and relaxed day.
Some of the things we learned:
AJ learned her second sense: hearing She drew pictures of things she could hear in her Science notebook. Some things she drew was a picture of Faith, a frog, and a bird. Mistic and Faith's Science topic of the week was the water cycle. That was a lot of fun! We learned about cloud types, what happens to the water we drink, evaporation, and condensation.
In Math, Mistic and Faith learned about place values, with Mistic reaching the "thousands" and Faith only going up to "hundreds". Mistic has learned to tell time to the "5". AJ is learning how to tell time to the hour. Also, AJ has just about accomplished the task of counting by 5's to 100 (she can already count by 1's to 100) and is working on counting backwards from 20.
AJ has learned how to sound out simple three letter words. She can identify several sight words, such as can, down, and blue.
Skippy Jon Jones was used in Faith's Language Art lesson, while The Princess and the Pea was used in AJ's. Thanks to Faith's lesson, we got homemade burritos out of it!!! Mistic learned about antonyms. She picked it up easily. We were able to talk about the differences between antonyms and synonyms.
We read several books about the water cycle, Mistic continued reading a chapter a day in her Junie B. Jones book, Faith is completing tomorrow her first chapter book (it only had 4 chapters) and AJ *almost* read an entire age appropriate book as well!
Our preschool lesson was about cats and kittens. The number three, the shape diamond, and the letter C were all discussed. Thanks to that we got COOKIES (you know C is for COOKIE!!!)
Our Bible verse for the week was: "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:" Philippians 2:5
I have to say, I'm really looking forward to these next couple of weeks. I have a fun subject for Science next week complete with several hands on activities. And then starting with week 5 I've completely redone my Math lessons. Stay tuned!
