Life, As I know it

I don't know about you, but my life is always crazy. Last week we had revival services at our church. Late nights and days that were busy didn't leave a lot of "sit down learning" time. This week, my goal is simple. Catch up with what we can and just keep trucking on!

Finger paint! Glue! Markers! What fun! The letter C has been our focus!

The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle was a GREAT book!

First Grade
We've been busy just taking off with our learning! Math has been full of addition and subtraction, pennies, dimes, and dollars, and place values. We rock in reading and are currently enjoying reading "Hop On Pop". With Aspen, we're still finding where we are... We've been flying through lessons and doing hit and miss work to see where we might be struggling in. So far, each day is easy and we accomplish several lessons. Eventually though we'll find her "level" and can learn new things!

Second Grade
We are trying to find our "level" as well, although it isn't because our work is easy and we are flying through it. Faith and I are still trying to find our notch to make learning as effective as possible. We tend to get frustrated daily and I don't want frustration to be part of our learning experience. It isn't that school is too hard either, it just isn't easy. I think I am going to start concentrating on one area and do the basics in the others. For instance, I think if I can bring her up to grade level in reading- or at least to where she is confident in it- everything else will fall into place. And then we can concentrate on math. We will be doing all subjects daily, but just really emphasizing on one subject until we get better.

Daddy has been a HUGE help with 2nd grade! Thanks Daddy!

Third Grade
We have been learning a lot in third grade! We've learned how to multiply multiple numbers with a single digit base (35 x 4 or even 253 x 2), our multiplication tables up to 4, the basics of division. We're working on our first report- on turkeys. Daddy is helping with that. We've changed our reading time to include others- on some days our reading consists of our health lesson and on other days it may be reading a book or a chapter aloud to our siblings. It's been great watching Mistic develop a real love for reading! I'm so proud of her!!!

That's life as I know it! One day at a time. When we finish school on Thursday, we will have completed week 5 of the 2011/2012 school year! Yay!!!

Yep, one day at a time. That's how it is around here too. Nice to "meet" you Erika.
